getting back to Rhino and grasshopper

These are a few useful links that I recently came across, and want to hold on to....

PanelingTools plugin for Rhino helps generate 2D and 3D cellular patterns and populate them over rectangular grids.

Atelier nGai: featuring lots of useful grasshopper tutorials, many which integrate solar studies.

JellyFish for Rhino from Daniel Piker on Vimeo.

JellyFish works with Rhino and Grasshopper as a tool for 3D modeling with attractive and repulsive forces. At its heart is a little script which creates and integrates vector fields. The force interaction model is roughly based on Coulomb's Law for electrostatics.

Looking at pattern morphing sketches, I came accros more work by Daniel Piker

Columbia University Toni Stable Student Center won top award from Architect Magazine

During my time at Stevens, a team of three of us designed a perforated corrugated ceiling from aluminum panels for the cafeteria building of the Toni Stable Student Center at Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism, designed by Marble Fairbanks Architects. The panels were designed to eliminate 80% of solar radiation, while allowing a large amount of indirect sunlight to enter the space and create a beautiful and very interesting pattern of light at the ceiling. The Student Center won a 2009 Annual Design Review Award from Architect Magazine, which recognizes “the best American architecture of the year.” The student center won the top award in the “Grow” category for Educational, Science, and Healthcare projects. When using innovative ways to display data. I just found this Data Visualizer on the website of the world bank. It allows me to compare and animate all kinds of interesting data, such as CO2 emissions versus GDP or life expectancy vs energy use on a global or national level.... This visualizer goes hand in hand with Hans Roslings talk about economic development on TED. Read More......
